GOOGLE // Chromecast Device
From small screen to big screen – Google’s new Chromecast allows you to send your favourite online entertainment from your smartphone, tablet or laptop straight to your TV.
How it works
No need to buy a new TV – just plug the Chromecast into the HDMI port of the set you already have and use your mobile, tablet or laptop to broadcast films, television shows, music, games and other media straight to the screen using your Wi-Fi connection. Designed to work with iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Mac and Windows laptops and Chromebooks, so no need to buy any extras phone or computing devices.
New look, new capabilities
Chromecast’s new disc design helps to keep the device further away from other devices and connections plugged into your TV. It’s not just an aesthetic improvement either: Chromecast now includes support for more Wi-Fi streaming standards (including 802.11ac, 5Ghz). The number of antennae in the device has also been increased to three, providing optimal Wi-Fi streaming.
Chromecast makes huddling around a laptop or tablet screen with tiny speakers to watch a movie a thing of the past. Easily enjoy episodes you’ve missed or newly-discovered shows by accessing online content from apps like BBC iPlayer or Netflix; select films from Google Play Movies and TV; and bring a party to life by watching the latest music videos via YouTube, Google Play Music and the Chrome browser. If you are fed up with your own tunes, then you can get your friends and family connected their devices to your wireless network, without any additional set up.
Because Chromecast streams from your device, it uses the interface you’re used to control it. Manage playback and volume controls simply and easily with your chosen device, with no need for extra remotes.
